URGENT UPDATE: A severe safety risk has prompted an immediate recall of a portable blender sold at Kmart and Target across Australia. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has confirmed that the blender can activate unexpectedly, exposing users to potentially serious injuries from its blades.
The ACCC reported that injuries have already occurred due to this malfunction. Consumers are advised to stop using the blender immediately, especially if it has been exposed to water, as it may self-activate without pressing the ON/OFF button. The warning emphasized the high risk of lacerations from the exposed blades.
The affected portable blender, available in colors such as white, blue, green, and lilac, has been on the shelves since January 23, 2025. It was sold both in-store and online through the Kmart and Target apps.
Authorities are urging all customers to return the product for a full refund. Those unable to return it or who have sold or gifted the item should contact the stores directly.
To facilitate returns, Kmart customers can call 1800 124 125, available Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (AEST). Target customers can reach their service line at 1300 753 567, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (AEST) and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (AEST). Online assistance is also available at their respective websites.
