Pho Hà Nội, a well-regarded Vietnamese restaurant chain based in Northern California, is making its debut in Southern California with a new location in Fountain Valley. This expansion marks an exciting milestone for the brand, which has garnered a loyal customer base since its inception.
The new restaurant will be situated at 18380 Brookhurst St., as confirmed by liquor licensing records. The liquor license application, filed under the entity Hanoi Bistro, was submitted in late June and is currently pending approval. Co-owner Helen Nguyen, who operates the restaurant with her husband Harry Nguyen, informed What Now OC that the property is undergoing renovations and is expected to open by the end of September 2023.
Rapid Growth and Popularity
Pho Hà Nội first launched its concept in 2016 at San Jose’s Vietnam Town and quickly gained recognition for its authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant’s success led to its recognition in the Best of Silicon Valley Readers’ Choice Award in 2021. Following this acclaim, the chain expanded to four additional locations in the Bay Area: Fremont, Milpitas, Palo Alto, and Cupertino.
The Fountain Valley location will introduce Pho Hà Nội’s signature dish—its renowned 24-hour bone broth pho—to a new audience. According to Vietnam Net, the chain sells upwards of 3,000 bowls of pho a day and generates more than $1.4 million in monthly revenue.
The decision to expand into Southern California reflects a growing demand for authentic Vietnamese cuisine in the region. The Fountain Valley community can look forward to sampling the flavors that have made Pho Hà Nội a beloved establishment in Northern California.
As preparations continue for the opening, the Nguyen family is keen to bring their culinary heritage to a wider audience. With strong support from local patrons, Pho Hà Nội aims to replicate its successful formula and become a staple in Southern California’s vibrant dining scene.
