The popular nail and beauty salon, Sugarcoat, has officially opened its doors at Uptown Atlanta, a newly redeveloped mixed-use destination covering 47 acres. The project, spearheaded by Rubenstein Partners, L.P., aims to create a vibrant community space that integrates office, retail, and residential facilities.
Located on Main Street, Sugarcoat’s new salon joins a lineup of recently opened eateries and shops. These include notable establishments such as White Windmill, Madre Selva, and Roundhouse Kickboxing. Founded by Peiru Kim, a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, the salon offers a variety of beauty services, including manicures, pedicures, and facials.
In a statement, Kim expressed excitement about the new location, stating, “We are thrilled to be joining Uptown’s dynamic mixed-use community and bring high-quality nail and beauty services to the surrounding neighborhoods.” She highlighted the area’s vibrant atmosphere and the opportunity to introduce the luxurious Sugarcoat experience to more clients.
Sugarcoat’s opening coincides with several community-focused holiday events at Uptown. One of the highlights is the fifth annual Laughs, Llamas and Pajamas on November 20, 2023, featuring live llamas dressed in pajamas, a “Jazzy Santa,” and food offerings from various restaurants. Additionally, a holiday-themed market as part of the Main Street Market series is scheduled for December 7, 2023, showcasing vintage curators, artisans, and local food options.
Uptown Atlanta boasts a substantial footprint, encompassing nearly 1 million square feet of office space, along with 110,000 square feet dedicated to retail and dining. Recent openings in the area include a mix of culinary experiences, such as El Gordo, an authentic taqueria, and Bene Korean, an upscale Korean barbeque restaurant. These establishments join the lineup at Uptown Test Kitchen, which aims to connect local chefs with the community.
The redevelopment of Uptown Atlanta has focused on enhancing connectivity, with easy access to MARTA and major pedestrian trails like the Atlanta Beltline and PATH400. As part of the project, Rubenstein has modernized a 35,000-square-foot office atrium and improved building facades to create a pedestrian-friendly environment. The Lawn has also been transformed into a vibrant community gathering space, complete with activated ambient lighting and art installations.
As Sugarcoat embarks on this new chapter, it continues to contribute to the growing vibrancy of Uptown Atlanta, enriching the area with its specialized beauty services and participating in an array of community events.
