St Agatha’s Primary School Sparks Imagination During Book Week

St Agatha’s Primary School in Cranbourne recently celebrated Book Week, transforming the school into a vibrant hub of storytelling and creativity. The event, held from March 3 to March 9, 2024, engaged students of all ages through a series of fun activities designed to foster a love of reading.

Throughout the week, students and staff embraced the spirit of the occasion by dressing up as their favourite book characters. This initiative allowed participants to bring their beloved stories to life, creating a festive atmosphere across the school grounds. The costumes ranged from classic literary figures to contemporary heroes, showcasing the diverse interests of the students.

Gary Sissons, a photographer for Star News, captured memorable moments during the celebrations. His photographs highlighted the enthusiasm of both students and staff as they participated in various themed activities. The school community came together to share in the joy of reading, with classrooms adorned with decorations inspired by popular books and stories.

In addition to the costume parade, the week included storytelling sessions, creative workshops, and book-themed games. These activities aimed to inspire students to explore new genres and authors, enhancing their appreciation for literature. Teachers facilitated discussions around the significance of storytelling, emphasizing the important role it plays in education and personal development.

The celebration of Book Week at St Agatha’s Primary School not only encouraged reading but also fostered a sense of community among students and staff. With a focus on creativity and imagination, the event aimed to instill a lifelong passion for books in young learners. As the festivities concluded, students left with new books to read and stories to share, ensuring the spirit of Book Week continues beyond the classroom.
