Bindi Irwin has returned to Australia with her husband, Chandler Powell, and their daughter, Grace, after supporting her brother, Robert Irwin, during his successful run on the American reality competition, Dancing With The Stars. Robert, 22, recently achieved fame in the United States, winning the coveted title in a competition that spanned three months.
The family relocated to the US to cheer him on, and their first activity back in Australia was a heartwarming reunion with Grace’s best friend, Igloo. Bindi shared a touching moment on social media, showcasing Grace feeding Igloo, a giant Aldabra tortoise at Australia Zoo. The tortoise, nearly the same size as Grace, delighted both her and her father, Chandler, in the video shared online.
Celebrating Legacy and Conservation
Bindi’s return was perfectly timed for a significant event on the Irwin family calendar—the annual Steve Irwin Gala. This gala, held to celebrate the life and legacy of the late wildlife advocate, featured a special message from Prince William. In a video tribute, he emphasized the importance of conservation, stating, “Tonight’s event is all about carrying forward that dedication to conservation and the natural world.”
Prince William highlighted the urgent need for collective action to protect the planet, mentioning the challenges posed by climate change. He noted, “Steve Irwin was dedicated to conservation. He dreamed of clean air, abundant oceans, and a stable climate for future generations.” The gala took place simultaneously in Brisbane and Las Vegas, furthering Steve’s mission to inspire care for wildlife and ecosystems.
Future Plans for the Irwins
As the Irwin family readjusts to life in Australia, Bindi plans to continue her work at Australia Zoo, a hub for wildlife conservation and education. Robert, having just celebrated his 22nd birthday, expressed his desire to return to Australia soon. However, he will be traveling to South Africa shortly to film the next season of I’m A Celebrity alongside celebrity host Julia Morris.
Robert’s victory on Dancing With The Stars could open new avenues for him, as brands look to partner with him for promotional opportunities. His win marks the second time an Irwin has claimed the title on the American version of the show; Bindi won the Mirrorball Trophy a decade ago.
There is speculation about whether their mother, Terri Irwin, might join the cast in future seasons. Robert recently shared his intentions to rally support for Terri to participate, saying, “The petition to have my mum on Dancing With The Stars has begun, and I started it.” He humorously noted her reluctance, stating, “She is firmly like, ‘Nope, I’m not doing it. That’s not for me!’”
As the family navigates this exciting new chapter, it remains to be seen how their popular legacy will continue to evolve in the realm of wildlife conservation and entertainment. The Irwins have always been committed to their mission, blending family, fame, and a deep love for the natural world.
