Colin Farrell Takes on Priest Role in Action Thriller “Ordained”

Colin Farrell has been cast as a priest in the upcoming action thriller, Ordained. The 49-year-old actor will collaborate with the Russo Brothers, known for their work on the Avengers franchise, under their production company, AGBO. This project is based on an upcoming comic book by Bad Ideas, with multiple studios vying for the rights to the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Farrell is set to portray Father Roy Craig, a clergyman who performs last rites on a mob boss who unexpectedly survives. The situation escalates as the mafia chief confesses his crimes to Father Roy, prompting a violent response as hitmen, corrupt police officers, and gangsters are sent to silence him. Despite his own tumultuous history, Father Roy is determined not to kill again, setting the stage for intense conflict.

Farrell’s Excitement for The Batman: Part II

In addition to his role in Ordained, Farrell recently expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the DC universe in The Batman: Part II. He described feeling “really excited” to reprise his role as Oz Cobb, following his experience on the HBO spin-off series, The Penguin.

During an interview with Collider, Farrell shared his joy about rejoining the cast, including Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight and Jeffrey Wright as James ‘Jim’ Gordon, under the direction of Matt Reeves. “It’s less about ‘What can I do,’” he noted, reflecting on the extensive character development he experienced in the series. “It’s more just to be in that world and be around Robert and Jeffrey again.”

The actor expressed a deep admiration for the Batman franchise, highlighting his long-standing fandom since childhood. He reminisced about watching the original Batman ’66 and the performances of actors like Burgess Meredith and Danny DeVito as the Penguin. Farrell praised Reeves’ unique reimagining of the Gotham universe, noting its focus on the psychological complexities of both Bruce Wayne and Batman.

“Just to be part of that world,” he said, “is such a joy for me.” His excitement underscores not only his commitment to the role but also his appreciation for the rich storytelling that the franchise offers.

As production for Ordained and The Batman: Part II moves forward, fans can look forward to seeing Farrell navigate these complex characters, reflecting both his versatility as an actor and his enduring passion for storytelling.
