Spandau Ballet’s Steve Norman Calls for Farewell Tour

Speculation is growing regarding a potential farewell tour for the legendary new wave band, Spandau Ballet. Steve Norman, a co-founding member and multi-instrumentalist of the group, expressed a desire for the original lineup to reunite, stating that it would provide “closure” for both the band and their fans. This comes after the group has not performed together since 2015.

The original members of Spandau Ballet include Tony Hadley (lead vocals), Martin Kemp (bassist), Gary Kemp (lead guitarist), John Keeble (drummer), and Norman himself. The band initially disbanded in 1990 following a legal dispute over songwriting royalties. They reformed in 2009, but tensions resurfaced when Hadley left the group in 2017 due to “circumstances beyond my control.” He was replaced by Ross William Wild but the band has not worked together since Wild’s departure in 2019.

In an interview with BANG Showbiz, Norman humorously remarked about wanting a photograph of his bandmates embracing, which he hopes to use at his funeral. He explained that while he tries not to dwell on the idea of a reunion, he believes it makes sense for the band to consider a farewell tour. “It would be lovely but, quite frankly, I try not to think about (a reunion) because I’ve thought about it for too long over the years,” he stated.

Norman emphasized the importance of a farewell tour for the band. He noted that it would not only bring closure to their long-standing career but also provide a final moment for their fans. “I’ve always wanted Spandau to do a farewell tour; it would be closure — not just for fans because we never split up, but it would be closure for the band,” he added.

As discussions about a potential tour continue, fans of Spandau Ballet remain hopeful that the iconic band will take the stage together once more, allowing them to celebrate the music that defined a generation. The future of the band remains uncertain, but Norman’s comments have reignited interest in a possible reunion.
