Spectrum Theatre is set to showcase the debut play of local writer Aaron Murray with the opening of A Composite Arrangement on November 16, 2023. This production marks the theatre’s final performance of the year and promises a blend of humor and heartfelt moments against the backdrop of the picturesque Greek island of Mykonos.
Murray, who previously appeared as Philip Lombard in Spectrum’s rendition of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, crafted this new play to explore the complexities of family and relationships. He describes the narrative as both light-hearted and relatable, focusing on the comedic mishaps that occur when a widower and three women—Stephanie, her teenage daughter Lily, and her outspoken mother Dawn—accidentally book the same holiday home. Their decision to share the space leads to a series of amusing interactions and poignant moments that reflect the messy nature of family life.
The excitement surrounding the production is palpable, particularly for Murray, who is thrilled to see his characters come to life with the help of Spectrum’s talented acting troupe. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside Maddi Sharpe, who co-directed the play. Their collaboration has fostered a creative synergy that has proven invaluable in navigating the complexities of staging the performance.
