The Cidery Hosts Free Blues Gigs During Iconic Festival Weekend

The last Avocado will perform at Blues at The Cidery.

As the annual blues festival approaches, The Cidery in Bridgetown is set to enhance the weekend’s festivities with a series of free musical performances. Running from November 7-9, 2023, the event, titled “Blues at The Cidery,” promises an exciting lineup of both local artists and emerging talents, creating a vibrant atmosphere for festival-goers to enjoy.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, November 7, with a performance by Bridgetown’s own Martin Lee Cropper, who is known for his distinctive blues sound. Cropper will set the tone for the weekend, inviting attendees to unwind in the venue’s welcoming environment.

On Saturday, November 8, the lineup expands with the debut performance of The Last Avocado, renowned for their funky, blues-infused originals. They will be joined by other local acts, including The Front Porch Serenaders, Micho Lupo, and the returning favorites Sisters of Corn. This diverse mix ensures that there will be something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.

The festivities conclude on Sunday, November 9, with performances by The Riders, Ian Cocker, and Blackwood Rising. Each act brings a unique flavor to the weekend, enriching the overall experience for attendees.

Lou Wilson, manager of The Cidery, emphasized the venue’s commitment to supporting local musicians by offering these free side gigs. “There’s never a door charge, just great music all weekend,” she stated. Wilson noted that the venue features a shaded beer garden, creating a relaxing atmosphere perfect for enjoying the performances. This year, The Cidery is also introducing an outdoor gin bar, which may include a special cocktail offer alongside its award-winning ciders and beers.

The combination of music, drinks, and a community-focused atmosphere makes The Cidery a key part of the Bridgetown blues festival experience. As the weekend approaches, both locals and visitors can look forward to a celebration of music and camaraderie, set against the backdrop of one of the region’s most cherished events.
