The WA College of Agriculture – Morawa recently celebrated the graduation of its Year 12 class of 2025, marking a significant milestone for the students involved. Surrounded by family, friends, and special guests, the event acknowledged the hard work and commitment of 13 graduates who have reached this important stage of their educational journey.
Achievements Recognised
During the ceremony, college principal Dean Carslake expressed pride in the accomplishments of the students. He highlighted their remarkable growth and dedication throughout the year, stating, “It was a truly proud occasion, shining a spotlight on the remarkable work, growth, and success of our students.” Carslake further emphasized the broader impact of the graduates, noting that many award recipients represented the local community, reflecting the collective strength, drive, and spirit of the region.
The college awarded several prestigious accolades during the ceremony. Ayla Alford from Geraldton stood out by winning eight awards, including the coveted title of 2025 dux, sponsored by the Glassford family, and the Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork award. Additionally, Mikayla Nelen from Geraldton received the Bob Burton Most Employable award, while Toby Couper from Dongara earned the ADF Future Innovators award. Other notable recognitions included Peter Chegwidden from Exmouth, who received the Melissa Price Endeavour Award in Vocational Education and Training, and Alex Fogarty from Murchison, who was honored with the Citizenship Award sponsored by Shane Love MLA.
Inspirational Message from Alumni
The graduation ceremony featured a keynote address by former student Brendan Kupsch, who graduated in 1997. His speech resonated with the themes of perseverance and self-determination. Reflecting on his own experiences, he shared how his time at the college laid the groundwork for his future career. “The college set me up very well, make sure you strive to do your best, and whatever career you choose, remember who helped you along the way,” Kupsch advised the graduates. “You are in charge of your own destiny – you make you.”
