Giants Prepare to Start Jameis Winston Against Packers

The New York Giants are set to start quarterback Jameis Winston in their upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, following a series of injuries within their roster. According to reports from ESPN journalists Adam Schefter and Jordan Raanan, the decision comes after rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart sustained a concussion during the Giants’ recent loss to the Chicago Bears.

Winston’s return marks his first appearance since Week 15 of the previous season, when he played for the Cleveland Browns. He joined the Giants on a two-year, $8 million contract during the offseason but had primarily served as the third-string quarterback throughout the 2025 season. The team initially relied on Russell Wilson as the starter, followed by Dart, who took over the position in Week 4.

In the game against the Bears, Dart encountered a significant hit while attempting to recover a fumble in the third quarter. As he ran past a defensive lineman, he was struck from the side, causing his head to hit the ground. Dart remained on the field for a brief period before walking to the sideline. He initially returned for two plays but later required evaluation in the medical tent. Ultimately, he was ruled out for the remainder of the match.

As the Giants prepare for the Packers, Winston’s experience will be crucial in leading the team. His ability to adapt quickly will be tested as he steps onto the field with the pressure of a starting role. The Giants aim to improve their performance after a challenging season, and Winston’s leadership could be pivotal in turning their fortune around.

With the stakes high and a strong opponent ahead, the Giants will look to capitalize on Winston’s skills and experience. The matchup against the Packers promises to be an exciting contest, drawing attention from fans and analysts alike as both teams strive for victory.
