On December 29, 2025, GAC Group’s cutting-edge energy solutions were highlighted at an exhibition titled “Forging the Path to National Strength: China’s Manufacturing Achievements Under the 14th Five-Year Plan.” This event, co-hosted by the National Museum of China and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, showcased over 300 national achievements in manufacturing.
Among the distinguished exhibits were GAC’s Magazine Battery and Solid-State Battery, both developed by the company’s “National Outstanding Engineer Team.” The Magazine Battery stands out as the first battery system to successfully pass stringent nail penetration tests without producing flames or igniting, setting a new benchmark for safety in electric vehicle batteries.
Innovative Safety Features and Performance
The Magazine Battery incorporates ultra-high intrinsic safety cells along with a comprehensive “vehicle-end + cloud-based” active safety monitoring system. It features a three-layer safety approach, consisting of core, active, and passive protections. These advancements ensure its safety performance exceeds the upcoming electric vehicle traction battery safety requirements outlined in GB38031-2025, which will take effect on July 1, 2026.
Currently, the Magazine Battery has been deployed in 1.3 million vehicles, achieving over 50 billion kilometers of safe travel with zero instances of spontaneous combustion. This impressive track record provides users with significant safety assurance during their journeys.
Meanwhile, GAC’s self-developed solid-state battery boasts an energy density exceeding 400 Wh/kg and has successfully passed critical safety evaluations, including tests in a 200°C thermal chamber and nail penetration assessments. This innovation effectively addresses consumers’ concerns regarding range anxiety and battery safety.
Pioneering the Future of Electric Vehicles
Advancements in materials and manufacturing processes have positioned GAC’s solid-state battery at the forefront of the industry, excelling in safety, energy density, and cycle life. The establishment of a pilot production line for mass-producing vehicle-grade solid-state batteries over 60 Ah represents a significant milestone for the company, paving the way for full vehicle integration by 2026.
Over the years, GAC has consistently enhanced its competitiveness through strategic innovations in intelligent connectivity and new energy vehicle (NEV) powertrains. Looking forward, the company aims to deepen its commitment to the intelligent connected NEV sector, leveraging leading technological advancements to drive further industry progress.
With these notable achievements, GAC not only reinforces its position in the electric vehicle market but also contributes to the broader goals of sustainable manufacturing and innovation in China.
