UPDATE: The highly anticipated Warrumbungle Bloomfest is set to ignite Coonabarabran on September 20, 2025, with an exhilarating evening filled with music, art, and community spirit. As part of Australia’s only Dark Sky Park, this festival promises a breathtaking experience under the stars, starting at 3:00 PM and running until 9:00 PM.
This year, Bloomfest returns for its second installment, inviting families and visitors to enjoy a completely free event that showcases the region’s natural beauty and creative talent. Attendees can immerse themselves in a day of exploring vibrant wildflowers in the Warrumbungles and Pilliga, followed by a night of spectacular entertainment on Dalgarno Street.
Festival highlights include free live music performances from local artists such as Tilly Poole and Phat Brass. The Coonabarabran Celtic Club Pipes and Drums will also entertain audiences, alongside interactive workshops suitable for all ages, including painting, badge-making, and face painting.
This year’s festivities will feature stunning light displays that transform local buildings and streets into a visual spectacle, including a colorful balloon arch photo wall and a giant 3D chalk artwork by local artist Zac Craig. Food lovers can indulge in a diverse array of cuisines, from tacos to gelato, along with market stalls showcasing handmade gifts and local art.
Mayor Kathryn Rindfleish emphasized the festival’s rising importance on the regional calendar, stating, “Bloomfest is where our region shines. We bring together the wildflowers of spring, the wonder of the dark skies, and the creativity of our community in one unforgettable evening.”
For those planning to travel to Coonabarabran, the area offers more than just the festival. Visitors can explore the stunning Warrumbungle National Park, the enchanting Pilliga Forest, and the Siding Spring Observatory, all located within a two-hour drive from Dubbo or Tamworth.
