Craggy Pear Emporium Expands: Grand Opening Draws Hundreds

UPDATE: The Craggy Pear Emporium in Boyanup has officially expanded, celebrating its grand opening on November 31, 2023, with an overwhelming turnout of hundreds of visitors. This arts and crafts store, known for its unique handmade homewares, is reshaping the local community with a focus on “intentional living.”

Owner Natalie Jackson shared that the new location, previously a derelict hardware store, underwent extensive renovations over the past six months. “The whole ceiling had to be redone, and it’s been a massive journey,” Jackson stated. The transformation reflects her commitment to providing a space where creativity and community thrive.

The Craggy Pear Emporium first opened in 2020, offering a curated selection of rustic home décor, including Ashfords spinning wheels, looms, and bespoke furniture. Jackson emphasized that mass-produced items have no place on her shelves. “We want to encourage people to embrace their creativity and invest in their spaces,” she explained.

The emporium also hosts workshops that teach heritage techniques like weaving, spinning, and furniture refurbishment. Participants range from young creatives to those eager to learn traditional crafts, creating a vibrant atmosphere for sharing skills and stories. “We’ve got men coming in to learn, which has been fabulous,” Jackson noted, highlighting the diverse community engagement.

With the move to a larger space, Jackson anticipates further growth. “We just couldn’t fit our classes in the church anymore,” she remarked. The new site allows for more classes and a wider variety of merchandise. “We can now accommodate more people and offer a better experience,” she added.

The grand opening exceeded expectations, with attendees praising the atmosphere and variety of offerings. “It was amazing,” Jackson said, recalling the buzz of positivity that filled the space. The emporium’s expansion not only benefits local artisans but also solidifies its role as a community hub.

As the Craggy Pear Emporium continues to thrive, Jackson is grateful for the support from her team and the community. “We all had our mops and marched down the road, and cleaned the whole area; it was just beautiful to watch,” she shared, illustrating the spirit of collaboration that defines her business.

Looking ahead, Jackson plans to hire more staff to meet the growing demand and expand the workshop offerings. “It’s just been growing and growing for six years,” she said, reflecting on the journey that led her to this exciting new chapter.

Stay tuned for more updates as the Craggy Pear Emporium continues to shape the creative landscape of Boyanup and inspire intentional living across the community.
