District Council of Grant Launches Urgent $250 Festive Grants

UPDATE: The District Council of Grant has just announced a new small grants program to boost community-led festive celebrations, offering up to $250 per township. This initiative is designed to foster connections during the holiday season, enabling local communities to host inclusive events that bring everyone together.

Applications are now open for the Township Festive Celebrations Grant Program, which aims to help towns celebrate in their own unique ways—be it through barbeques, street parties, or town decorations. Deputy Mayor and chair of the Council’s Awards Advisory Committee, Brad Mann, emphasized the initiative’s focus on community connection.

“This is a simple but meaningful way for council to support our communities across the district to celebrate,”

Mann stated, underscoring the program’s potential impact on local festive spirit and pride.

Eligible community groups can apply for funding to cover expenses such as food for events, decorations, modest entertainment, and venue setup costs. Chief Executive Officer Darryl Whicker noted that this program complements the council’s broader vision of creating a connected and resilient community.

“Many of our townships already host wonderful festive events each year. This program helps strengthen those traditions while also encouraging new ones to emerge,” Whicker explained, highlighting the importance of community-driven celebrations.

Community groups interested in applying should visit www.dcgrant.sa.gov.au/community/communitygrants for more information. Hard copy applications and support are available at the Council’s Principal Office and the Port MacDonnell Community Complex. For direct assistance, the Community Development Team can be reached at (08) 8738 3000.

Important Deadline: Applications close at 5 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2023. This is a vital opportunity for communities to secure funding for their festive events and create lasting memories this holiday season. Don’t miss out!

Spread the word about this exciting initiative and join in the festive celebrations!
