Melbourne Man Discovers $1 Million Lottery Ticket After Year

UPDATE: A Melbourne man has just transformed his life after discovering a forgotten lottery ticket worth $1 million while searching for his passport. The ticket, originally purchased from Coburg Hub Lotto, had been unclaimed since December 27, 2024.

The lottery winner, who remains anonymous, stumbled upon the ticket while sifting through a storage unit. “I was actually looking for my passport, but stumbled across [the lottery tickets] and just thought I’d give them a scan and see what’s there,” he revealed. To his astonishment, the ticket revealed a winning amount of $1 million. “I’m just glad I didn’t throw them out,” he added.

This life-altering find comes as a relief for the man, who expressed a desire to assist his mother financially and to renew his expired passport. “At the end of the day, it’s money and that doesn’t equal happiness,” he emphasized.

Prokafh Kundu, manager at Coburg Hub Lotto, stated that they had been eagerly awaiting the winner’s claim for nearly eight months. “We’ve sold many prizes here, but this one had us on the edge of our seats as it had been so long since the draw,” Kundu mentioned. He expressed excitement for the winner, adding, “Congratulations to our lucky customer, we wish you all the best with your prize.”

The winning numbers were 41, 28, 31, 35, 39, and 36 with supplementary numbers 34 and 27. A spokesperson from The Lott, Khat McIntyre, highlighted the importance of registering tickets with The Lott Members Club to ensure winners are notified even if they forget to check their tickets or lose them. “Imagine being a newly minted millionaire, but not knowing it,” McIntyre remarked.

As the news spreads, this story serves as a reminder for lottery players to check their tickets regularly. The thrill of discovering a hidden fortune could be just a scan away! Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as it unfolds.
