UPDATE: A driver for the NSW government has been charged with high-range drink-driving following a dangerous driving incident on the state’s Far South Coast. The incident unfolded on December 2, 2023, around 2:50 PM, when officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were alerted to reckless driving in the Bemboka area, approximately 35 kilometers west of Bega.
Authorities responded swiftly and located the suspect’s Toyota Prado parked on the Snowy Mountains Highway by 3:50 PM. Upon conducting a roadside breath test, officers reported a positive result for the driver, a 55-year-old man. He was arrested and transported to Bega Police Station, where a breath analysis revealed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.183, significantly above the legal limit.
The driver has been charged with driving with a high-range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol (PCA), resulting in an immediate suspension of his driving licence. He has been issued a court attendance notice to appear before Bega Local Court on December 23, 2023.
