UPDATE: A 22-year-old man has been arrested following a dramatic late-night police pursuit in Bathurst that began around 12:30 AM on September 14, 2023. Officers from the Chifley Police District initiated the chase after spotting a silver sedan driving dangerously on Eglinton Road.
When police attempted to pull the vehicle over on Farmgate Drive, the driver refused to stop, leading to an urgent pursuit. The chase went through Colville Street but was halted due to safety concerns. Shortly afterward, another pursuit began on Richardson Road, which was also terminated for similar reasons.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested the suspect at approximately 7:30 AM at a residence on Weeronga Way in Kelso. The vehicle has been seized for forensic examination as part of the investigation.
The man faces multiple charges, including:
– Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly (two counts)
– P2 driver exceed speed more than 45km/h (two counts)
– Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous (two counts)
He has been refused bail and is set to appear at Bail Division Court on September 15. Additionally, his driver’s license has been suspended.
