UPDATE: September is set to be a vibrant month in the Macleay Valley, filled with events that foster connection, learning, and celebration.
Local artist Carly Marchment will unveil her poignant exhibition “Legacy of Lines” at the Nulla Nulla Regional Gallery on Saturday, September 13, starting at 10:00 AM. This exhibition highlights her artistic journey while navigating the challenges of a degenerative disability, offering a unique perspective that resonates with many.
On Sunday, September 21, the Kempsey Racecourse will transform into a hub for inclusivity with the event “It’s OK on the Macleay.” Kicking off at 10:00 AM, this lively celebration promotes diversity and acceptance, inviting community members to join in the festivities.
Additionally, Wednesday, September 24 marks an important opportunity at the Kempsey Library with a workshop led by Ben Orman from the Seniors Rights Service. As part of the rescheduled events from Local Government Week, there will be a guided tour of the Steuart McIntyre Dam on September 22 at 10:00 AM, where attendees can learn about the essential processes that provide clean, safe water to their taps.
For those interested in flood management, the Kempsey Shire Council invites community members to the Big Map Flood Experience on Wednesday, September 24 at 5:30 PM. This session will shed light on how the community can prepare for and respond to flooding events.
