UPDATE: The Tigers have solidified their dominance in the Broome Basketball Association’s men’s A grade standings, clinching a decisive victory over the Bombers on November 12, 2023. In a thrilling match at the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre, the Tigers defeated the Bombers 67-55, showcasing their skill and teamwork. The first quarter saw both teams exchanging baskets, but the Tigers pulled ahead in the final minutes, with standout performances from Kurt Bello, who netted an impressive six baskets, and Jarman Cox, leading the score with 25 points.
Despite a strong effort from the Bombers, including notable plays by Chris Hunter, who scored 19 points, the Tigers maintained their momentum. They surged to a substantial lead, reaching a 15-point advantage by the end of the third quarter, 56-41. Although the Bombers fought back with five consecutive baskets from Hunter and Lachlan Walley, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Tigers’ lead.
In another competitive matchup, the Gantheaume Pointers triumphed over MP Boys 46-31. Early baskets from Timothy Jones and Dhaarshnna Krisshnan Murithi propelled the Pointers to an early lead, which they maintained throughout the game. Dhaarshnna Krisshnan Murithi finished with 14 points, solidifying his role as a key player for the Pointers.
In the men’s social competition, the Peninsula Bombers edged past Saints 60-53, with Reubeyus Cox emerging as the top scorer with 22 points. Meanwhile, the Hornets dominated Spoonbills with a stunning score of 82-41, led by Kanichi Shioji‘s incredible 30 points.
In women’s action, the Raiders defeated the Drifters 68-41, highlighted by Jeremia Wiggan, who led all scorers with 25 points. The Lady Tigers did not compete this week, creating anticipation for their upcoming matches.
