UPDATE: A manhunt is underway for 37-year-old Christopher James Mcloughney, who is wanted in connection with the shocking discovery of a woman’s body in Kearsley, New South Wales. This urgent situation follows a domestic violence call-out that led police to the scene around 7:30 PM on September 29, 2023.
Authorities report that a 39-year-old woman, still to be formally identified, was found dead inside a residence, prompting immediate action from homicide investigators, who have established a crime scene. Superintendent Steve Laksa described the incident as involving a “traumatic incident,” indicating the severity of the situation.
Supt Laksa has warned that Mcloughney is possibly armed and may be in the nearby areas of Cessnock, Lower Hunter Valley, or Newcastle. He is described as thin, approximately 175 cm tall, with red hair. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of him.
“This domestic violence-related homicide is particularly horrific for the family involved, especially her three children,” Supt Laksa stated. One of the children reportedly fled to a neighbor’s home seeking help, underscoring the traumatic nature of the incident.
Supt Laksa expressed deep concern for the community’s well-being, noting, “A domestic violence-related homicide would be quite confronting for any person. I can only imagine the adverse impact this is going to have on community members and family members.”
As the investigation continues, police are appealing for information. Anyone with details regarding Mcloughney’s whereabouts is urged to contact authorities immediately.
