Urgent: Police Investigate Two Car Fires in Wodonga, Albury

UPDATE: Police are actively investigating two separate car fires that erupted in Wodonga and South Albury early this morning. The first incident occurred at approximately 12:15 AM on October 21, 2023, when officers discovered a burning vehicle on Ebden Street in South Albury. Firefighters quickly responded to extinguish the flames.

Just hours later, around 5:35 AM, Wodonga firefighters were called to a similar scene involving a white Holden on Weeks Crescent. This vehicle, which was notably without license plates, suffered significant damage before crews managed to put out the fire and clear the area.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact 1800 333 000. The rapid succession of these fires has raised alarms among local residents and officials alike.

In related news, a driver has been critically injured in a separate incident involving a head-on collision on the Hume Freeway at Wodonga. Reports indicate that the driver was allegedly operating a stolen vehicle on the wrong side of the freeway. Law enforcement has confirmed that charges are pending in this case.

Additionally, in a bid to tackle budgetary challenges, consultants have proposed the introduction of parking meters to the Albury Council. This potential move is generating discussion among community members about its implications for local businesses and residents.

Stay tuned for further updates on these developing stories as police investigations continue.
