Woy Woy Oyster Festival Kicks Off 25th Year with Exciting Events

BREAKING: The highly anticipated Brisbane Water Oyster Festival is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary on October 21, 2023, bringing a weekend of food, entertainment, and community spirit to the Woy Woy waterfront. This iconic event, which started back in 2000, has evolved into one of the longest-running community festivals on the Central Coast.

Chamber President Matthew Wales expressed pride in the festival’s rich history and economic impact. “This year, we are thrilled to announce the return of our Naming Sponsor, Deepwater Plaza Woy Woy, a cornerstone of the Peninsula community for over 40 years,” he said. The festival is expected to attract thousands of visitors, providing a significant boost to local businesses and the economy.

Festival-goers can look forward to a variety of attractions, including over 100 food stalls, live music, and the much-loved eating competition, ‘How Many Oysters Can You Eat in 30 Seconds.’ Last year’s champion devoured an impressive 32 oysters. Contestants can register on the day of the event.

The entertainment lineup will kick off at 10:00 AM with a live performance by Jellybean Jam, followed by Swift Kick, a band delivering nostalgic 60s rock ‘n’ roll, boogie woogie, blues, and swing in the afternoon. The event will be hosted by Jenifer Green of G’day Hollywood Productions, ensuring a day filled with fun for all ages.

In addition to the culinary delights, oyster farmers from across the region will showcase their products at the festival’s highlight, the Sydney Rocks. Attendees can enjoy chilled wines, cocktails, and craft beers from Six Strings Brewing Company.

Parking will be available at the rail station commuter carpark and the adjacent council carpark, with a shuttle bus running from Deepwater Plaza to key locations including the rail station, wharf, and Lions Park.

Wales concluded by emphasizing the importance of community support: “We are grateful for our sponsors and the support from Central Coast Council to keep this festival thriving. We hope more local businesses seize the opportunity to participate in this iconic event.”
