Wyndham Council Nears Completion of Three New Bridges in Truganina

URGENT UPDATE: Wyndham Council has announced that it expects to complete construction on three vital pedestrian bridges in Truganina by the end of the year. This development, located within the Allura estate, aims to enhance foot and bicycle accessibility across the area, making daily commutes safer and easier for residents.

The new bridges will span Doherty’s Drain, providing essential connections between Akkersley Drive and Rockgarden Drive, Malmaison Crescent and Bolivar Esplanade, as well as Neroli Crescent and Forsyth Road. Delivery of the prefabricated structures occurred late last month, and installation is currently underway, accompanied by the construction of connecting pathways and boardwalks.

This project replaces a mix of stepping stones and informal tracks that previously hindered safe passage across the creek. The council’s initiative is designed to encourage increased walking, jogging, and cycling throughout the reserve, promoting healthier lifestyles among community members.

Wyndham City’s ambitious $165.1 million capital works program for 2025-26 focuses on enhancing open spaces, improving road infrastructure, and reinforcing community safety and liveability. Deputy Mayor Preet Singh emphasized the transformative impact of the bridges, stating, “These are great additions to the community that will make life easier—easier access to parks, schools, and creeks, bridging the gaps.”

Mayor Josh Gilligan echoed these sentiments, expressing excitement about the upcoming projects in the next 12 months. “I look forward to showcasing these terrific projects that will enhance our community,” he said.

Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates as the council completes these critical installations, which promise to significantly improve accessibility and connectivity in Truganina. As these new bridges near completion, the community is poised to experience a major enhancement in daily life and recreational opportunities.
