Seamus Quinn Drops 10kg, Leading Barnawartha Tigers’ Surge

UPDATE: Seamus Quinn, a standout player for the Barnawartha Tigers, has revealed he has shed 10kg, marking a significant transformation as the team pushes for a championship this season. Just announced, Quinn’s weight loss has dramatically improved his performance, helping the Tigers finish second on the ladder with 13 wins—a remarkable feat that few predicted.

Growing up in Chiltern, Quinn’s football journey began with the Swans before a controversial switch to rival Barnawartha. He recalls his mother, Debbie, initially disapproving of his move. “Mum made me ride my pushbike to training just to see how committed I was,” Quinn shared. Today, their bond has evolved, with Debbie now supporting the Tigers as a committee member.

At 29 years old, Quinn has played over 130 senior matches for the Tigers, aside from a brief stint at Henty in 2021. He faced a setback when he tore his ACL during his first match there but returned to Barnawartha, stating, “I came crawling back.” His connection runs deep; he is the brother-in-law of dual Barton medallist Jarrad Farwell.

Quinn’s performance this season has been pivotal to the Tigers’ success, particularly under the leadership of new coach Adam Mudra. The Tigers have emerged as a surprise contender, showcasing a young team that has rallied together under Mudra’s coaching philosophy, focusing on fundamentals and teamwork. “Getting Adam as coach has been the biggest coup,” Quinn remarked, acknowledging Mudra’s impact on their rapid improvement.

The Tigers are now eyeing a potential grand final, with their fierce competition against teams like Thurgoona. Quinn noted, “A lot of people didn’t think we could improve so quickly after missing finals last year.”

His own transformation has not gone unnoticed. Quinn, who described himself as a “tubby Tiger” last year, attributes his weight loss to a combination of hard work at his landscaping job and focused training. “I can get around the ground a lot better now,” he said, crediting his new job with Daryn Cresswell‘s landscaping company for keeping him active.

As the season heats up, the Barnawartha Tigers are generating buzz, and their loyal fans are rallying behind them. With the finals approaching, all eyes are on Quinn and his teammates as they strive for glory.

This is a developing story that highlights the impressive journey of Seamus Quinn and the Barnawartha Tigers. Fans are encouraged to follow their local news and support the team as they aim for a triumphant finish this season.
