Complete Kids Transforms Space for Engaging Children’s Book Week

Complete Kids in Sunbury has embraced the spirit of Children’s Book Week by transforming its reception area into a vibrant setting inspired by the classic nursery rhyme, Old McDonald’s Farm. This initiative aims to engage children with an interactive play area featuring a hobby horse, a ride-on tractor, and an array of farm-themed toys. The centre’s dedication to fostering a love of reading is evident in this imaginative setup.

Creative Displays Celebrate Literature

The centre director, Alana Anderson, emphasized that Complete Kids’ out-of-school hours care, kindergarten, and daycare services make a concerted effort to celebrate Book Week each year. “We encourage all the rooms to create a Book Week door display,” Anderson stated. “It’s all about what they create and their favourite stories is what they generally go with when they’re choosing a theme.”

Children’s Book Week often inspires creativity, and Complete Kids is no exception. Each classroom has chosen themes based on beloved books, leading to displays featuring titles such as Narnia, The Hungry Caterpillar, and Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas. These themed displays not only beautify the centre but also stimulate children’s interest in literature.

Fostering a Love for Reading

Anderson believes that the initiative helps bring the magic of stories to life. “We think that it just brings that magic to life through books and stories, and it’s a way that we all connect with each other as well,” she explained. The interactive nature of the play area allows children to immerse themselves in the world of literature, making the experience both fun and educational.

The transformation of the reception area serves as a reminder of the importance of storytelling in early childhood education. By creating an engaging environment, Complete Kids not only celebrates Children’s Book Week but also nurtures a lifelong love for reading among its young attendees.
