Actress Naomi Ackie has made it clear that she has no intention of relocating to Los Angeles despite her rising career in Hollywood. The star of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” believes that working conditions in the United States are demanding, with longer hours that could compromise her quality of life. Currently based in London, Ackie frequently travels across the Atlantic for her film projects but prefers to maintain her lifestyle outside the Hollywood bubble.
In a recent interview with The Times, Ackie shared her thoughts on the differences between the film industries in the UK and the US. She expressed concern that a full-time move to California would hinder her ability to live a “normal life.” She stated, “I love going there for work… but in London, you can live a normal life outside the industry, which you don’t get in Hollywood.”
Ackie also noted the stark contrast in working hours. While shoots in the UK typically run from 06:00 to 18:00, she pointed out that American productions often continue for much longer. “I say it’s too long, I get tired, can we just go to the pub?” she quipped, highlighting her desire for balance between work and personal life.
The 33-year-old actress has also opened up about her personal aspirations regarding family. She has indicated that she is not ready to settle down or start a family just yet. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she mentioned, “I’m probably not ready to have my own child until I’m like 40.”
Ackie elaborated on her reasons for delaying family life, saying, “I don’t own a home. I can’t even look after a f****** plant, mate.” Her candidness about her current stage in life reflects a desire to enjoy her independence before making significant commitments.
She expressed a hope for marriage in the future but emphasized the importance of enjoying her single life for a few more years. “I feel really intentional about wanting to be married for a few years before that happens,” she said, indicating a thoughtful approach to her future.
As Ackie continues to navigate her burgeoning career in the film industry, her commitment to maintaining a balanced life remains a priority. Her decision to stay based in London underscores her belief that personal well-being is essential, even in the face of Hollywood’s allure.
