Bega Valley Charity Raises $30,000 in Urgent Fashion Store Sale

URGENT UPDATE: A fashion store in Bega Valley has reopened its doors, generating an astonishing $30,000 for a local charity in just one day. This extraordinary fundraising event, led by the Sapphire Community Projects, aims to support those in need during the holiday season.

The store’s manager, Mandi Rush, expressed her excitement, stating, “As soon as we got the call from Jo from Bega Village, we knew this opportunity was crucial.” The store had been closed for six months, but with the authorization to liquidate stock left behind by the previous owners, it became a beacon of hope for the community.

The opening day resembled a Black Friday sale, with long lines of eager shoppers. “Some customers waited up to an hour and a half to reach the checkout,” Rush reported, emphasizing the overwhelming support from the community.

All proceeds from the sale will directly benefit Ricky’s Place, providing essential funds for their upcoming Christmas lunch and new appliances. Additionally, the money raised will help cover the costs of food hampers, with Rush noting, “Last year, we provided nearly $23,000 in food hampers, helping those who come to us hungry.”

Community engagement is vital to this initiative. Joanna Ravan, the retail property manager for Bega Village, highlighted their ongoing partnership with the Sapphire Community Pantry. “Bega Village is proud to continue its support through various fundraising efforts,” she stated. A food donation bin is conveniently located near Woolworths at Bega Village, making it easy for shoppers to contribute to the pantry’s mission.

This event marks a crucial moment for the Bega Valley community, showcasing the power of collaboration and compassion. As the holiday season approaches, the funds raised will ensure that families in need receive the support they deserve.

WHAT’S NEXT: With the success of this sale, community leaders are encouraged to explore more opportunities for collaboration to further assist those in need. The Sapphire Community Projects is poised to continue its impactful work throughout the year, ensuring that no one feels alone during these challenging times.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops, and consider supporting local initiatives to help make a difference in your community.
