Millicent Churches Unite for Combined Worship Service

A notable religious gathering took place in Millicent on the recent fifth Sunday of the month, marking a long-standing tradition among the town’s churches. The local Baptist Church hosted a combined service for the nine churches in the area, bringing together a congregation of approximately 60 attendees.

The service was co-led by Pastor Simon Lalich of the Baptist Church and Pastor Shaun Mulick from the Millicent Community Church. The program featured a blend of contemporary and traditional hymns, enhancing the atmosphere of unity and reverence. The main address was delivered by Reverend Wayne Landford of the Anglican Church, who provided insights and reflections to the gathered faithful.

Community Participation and Contributions

As part of the service, key representatives from the local churches contributed by reading Bible lessons. Notable participants included Phil Golding from the Uniting Church, Kaylene Haslam representing the Catholic Church, Kevin Pech from the Millicent Community Church, and Lois Schwarz of the Lutheran Church. This collaborative effort underscored the spirit of cooperation among the various denominations.

After the worship service, attendees enjoyed a shared afternoon tea, fostering community bonds and fellowship among participants. The collection from the service will support the initiatives of the Millicent Ministers Association, specifically for their annual Christmas Hamper Appeal and the costs associated with hosting the upcoming Christmas Carols and Christmas Fair.

This event not only reflects the rich religious heritage of Millicent but also highlights the ongoing commitment of its churches to serve the community. The successful gathering serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and collaboration in fostering a supportive environment for all residents.
