Whittlesea will honor the courage and commitment of local emergency services at the upcoming emergency services expo and the 29th annual blessing of the emergency services fleet. This free community event is set for Saturday, October 4, 2023, from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre, located at 35 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang.
The morning will commence with a multi-faith ceremony designed to unite emergency services personnel, faith leaders, and community members. This gathering aims to bless the vehicles and equipment that play a crucial role in protecting the region throughout the coming year.
Families attending can look forward to a variety of free activities. These include children’s entertainment, a sausage sizzle, and a coffee van, ensuring there are enjoyable options for all ages. Whittlesea mayor Martin Taylor expressed his enthusiasm for the event, inviting residents to show their appreciation for those who serve the community.
“This event is a heartfelt tribute to the local heroes who put themselves on the line to keep our community safe. It’s a chance to say thank you, together as a community,” Cr Taylor stated. He further highlighted his personal connection, noting his experience as a first responder. “I know first-hand the dedication, sacrifice, and courage of our emergency services personnel and I am proud to stand alongside them at this special event.”
Residents are encouraged to bring their families and friends for a morning filled with community spirit, gratitude, and celebration. For further details, visit the official Whittlesea website at www.whittlesea.vic.gov.au/events.
