East Gippsland Water Opens Applications for Summer Internship Program

East Gippsland Water has announced that applications are now open for its annual summer Vacation Employment Program. This initiative, which runs from December 2025 to February 2026, offers eligible university students the opportunity to gain practical experience in the water industry while earning a wage.

The program is aimed at students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in various fields, including engineering, science, commerce, human resources, marketing, accounting, and information technology. According to Lauren Kyle, Manager of People and Capability at East Gippsland Water, participants will engage in real-world projects that effectively bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application.

“Last year, we placed eight tertiary students in roles over the summer holidays,” Ms. Kyle noted. “This not only provided our teams with valuable support and fresh ideas but also allowed the undergraduate students to gain hands-on knowledge and experience. They had the chance to make a meaningful impact through real-world projects.”

The program is designed to be mutually beneficial. Students will be compensated for their work while enhancing their resumes with practical experience. Ms. Kyle emphasized the importance of the program, stating, “Whether you’re studying a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, commerce, HR, marketing, accounting, or IT, this is a chance to make a meaningful impact in the vital and multi-faceted water industry.”

Priority consideration will be given to students from the East Gippsland region, reflecting the organization’s commitment to local talent. However, interested applicants must act swiftly, as the application window closes on September 30, 2025.

East Gippsland Water’s Vacation Employment Program not only supports the workforce needs of the organization but also plays a crucial role in developing the next generation of professionals in the water sector.
