Trio Arrested in Early Morning Car Theft Crackdown in Truganina

URGENT UPDATE: Three individuals have been arrested in Truganina following a significant police operation targeting a string of Toyota vehicle thefts in Kyneton. The arrests took place just before 1 AM on September 19, as detectives executed a coordinated effort to combat rising vehicle thefts in the region.

Authorities tracked a stolen vehicle to Perpetual Street, where they apprehended the trio as part of a month-long investigation led by Macedon Ranges Eyewatch. This operation was launched in response to a series of thefts from local businesses, including Kyneton Toyota and Kyneton Hospital.

A 40-year-old man from Melton faces serious charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, and has been remanded in custody. Meanwhile, a 30-year-old Tarneit man has been charged with handling stolen goods and various driving offences, with a court appearance scheduled at Werribee Magistrates’ Court on January 6. Additionally, a 30-year-old man from Princes Hill faces Bail Act offences and has been bailed to appear on November 6.

This operation underscores the authorities’ commitment to tackling vehicle theft, which has impacted local communities. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity to the police.
