East Werribee Development Announced: 600 Hectares to Transform Economy

BREAKING: The Victorian government has just announced that Development Victoria will serve as the master developer for the expansive 600-hectare East Werribee employment precinct. This ambitious project is poised to reshape the region’s economic landscape, incorporating essential facilities like law courts, schools, and health services.

With the first phase already underway, planning and design work is set to commence immediately. According to Ronan Mellan, acting precincts executive general manager at Development Victoria, the project holds tremendous potential. “This work will set the precinct up for the future delivery phase, which is intended to be facilitated in partnership with the private sector,” he stated.

The East Werribee development is expected to unfold over the next 30 years, introducing a diverse array of housing options, including 10% affordable housing. A significant portion of the land will be designated for employment-related uses, aimed at attracting new jobs and industries to the region.

Environmental sustainability and climate resilience will be central themes throughout the development, ensuring a future-ready infrastructure. Development Victoria emphasizes a collaborative approach, engaging with private sector stakeholders and the community to streamline the planning and delivery process.

This landmark project not only promises to enhance the local economy but also aims to create a vibrant community with essential services and job opportunities. Stay tuned for updates as the planning phase progresses and the community is invited to participate in shaping the future of East Werribee.
