UPDATE: A truck driver has been charged following a deadly crash near Bega, with court proceedings just confirmed. Thomas Bransgrove, a 21-year-old from Traralgon, Victoria, faces serious charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death after a tragic three-vehicle collision.
The incident occurred on the Princes Hwy at Frogs Hollow, approximately 13 km south of Bega, on August 7, 2025. Emergency services responded urgently, only to discover that a 54-year-old man, who drove a Toyota utility, succumbed to injuries at the scene. His death has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers on our roads.
The crash involved a Mazda SUV driven by a 78-year-old man, accompanied by a 77-year-old woman. Both were treated at the scene and later transported to South East Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately, Bransgrove, the truck driver, emerged unscathed but was arrested shortly after the investigation began.
Bransgrove’s case was mentioned in Bega Local Court on September 24, with the court scheduling the next hearing for November 11, 2025. The legal proceedings are ongoing, and the community is awaiting further developments.
