Based in Sydney, Patrick was a prominent figure in the fashion industry, known for his influential work and connections with various celebrities. His death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and admirers across the worlds of fashion, media, and beyond.

Patrick was best known for his partnership with the late Geoffrey Williams, which began in 1977 when both were just starting their careers. Together, they launched the Mark & Geoffrey label, which quickly gained a reputation for excellence. By the early 1980s, they opened a retail store in Sydney and expanded their brand internationally, selling to more than 30 countries. The Age described their label as “the first truly international Australian fashion label.”

In addition to his fashion work, Patrick was the founder of the MP agency, a successful publicity firm that represented high-profile clients, including the French champagne supplier Moet. His expertise was particularly evident during the Melbourne Cup, where he managed the Moet and Chandon marquee, attracting some of Victoria’s biggest names to the exclusive event.

Modelling agent Yvonne Tozzi shared her memories on Facebook, stating, “Time passes but the memories linger, oh the fun we had… you were pure joy. RIP.” This sentiment reflects the deep personal impact Patrick had on those who knew him, as he touched lives across various sectors, including fashion, design, sport, media, and politics.

In 2016, Patrick shifted his focus from fashion to homewares, opening the BORN homewares store in Kincumber, located on the NSW Central Coast. This store, which stood for “Born Again Refurbished New,” showcased his eye for design and his passion for quality craftsmanship. He continued to operate the store until his retirement in 2022.

Mark Patrick’s legacy will undoubtedly live on through his contributions to the fashion industry and the many lives he influenced throughout his career. His ability to blend creativity with business acumen set a standard in the industry, and his vibrant spirit will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
