Federal Family Fun Day Set for Oct 18 to Boost Sustainability

UPDATE: The Federal Community Children’s Centre is gearing up for its highly anticipated Family Fun Day on October 18, 2023, from 10 AM to 2 PM. This free event is not only a celebration for families but also a crucial fundraiser to support the installation of solar panels on the centre’s roof, enhancing its sustainability efforts.

Mandala Dieh, Director of the centre, emphasizes the importance of this initiative. “Solar panels will not only help us operate sustainably but will also reduce our costs as a not-for-profit centre,” she stated, underscoring the dual benefits of environmental stewardship and financial efficiency.

Families from across the Shire are invited to join this community event, featuring a range of activities including a raffle, live music, food stalls, and engaging children’s activities. Local band The Imprints will provide an ambient musical experience, while the Indigenous group Bunyarabugalma Yoga will conduct yoga sessions that connect participants to Bundjalung Country and its rich language.

Attendees can participate in hands-on activities like Jugun Dandii weaving, Bush Kindy flower painting, and face painting. The event will also showcase a fire truck and various other attractions, ensuring an enjoyable day for everyone.

The raffle promises exciting prizes from local businesses, including Synthesis Organics and Calmer Chai, along with artworks created by Indigenous artists. Ms. Dieh highlights the event’s significance, stating, “It’s an opportunity to strengthen our community ties while also supporting the centre.”

This beloved Family Fun Day serves as a vital link for local families, promoting togetherness and community spirit. With a blend of fun, culture, and sustainability, it stands out as a must-attend event.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 18, 2023, and join the festivities at the Federal Community Children’s Centre, located at 898 Binna Burra Road, Federal. Don’t miss out on this chance to engage with the community while supporting a greener future!
