UPDATE: The Tugun Bypass Tunnel on the Pacific Motorway will experience multiple night closures throughout October for urgent maintenance. Motorists are advised to prepare for these disruptions, which are set to occur from 7 PM to 5 AM on October 14, 15, 21, and 22.
This essential maintenance work is designed to ensure the safety and efficiency of the tunnel, impacting traffic during crucial evening hours. To minimize delays, work will be conducted at night, but drivers should expect to allow up to five additional minutes for their journeys.
During the closures, detours will be in place for all vehicle types. Northbound traffic will exit the M1 Pacific Motorway at the Kennedy Drive exit, continue onto Sugarwood Drive to the Gold Coast Highway, and then take Tugun Currumbin Road to rejoin the M1 at the Stewart Road on-ramp. Southbound motorists should exit at Tugun Currumbin Road (Exit 95), follow the Gold Coast Highway, and utilize Cordyline Drive to access the M1 again at the Kennedy Drive on-ramp.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully, adhere to detour signs, and follow instructions from traffic control personnel. The NSW Government has expressed gratitude to drivers for their patience during this necessary work.
