Min Woo Lee Chases Leaders at PGA Baycurrent Classic in Japan

UPDATE: As the final round approaches, Min Woo Lee is just four shots off the lead at the PGA Tour’s Baycurrent Classic in Yokohama, Japan. The Australian golfer finished Saturday with a stunning four-under 67, bringing his total to eight under for the tournament. Lee’s performance included seven birdies, three of which came in a row at the end of his round, positioning him as a serious contender heading into Sunday.

The leaders, Max Greyserman and Xander Schauffele, both sit at twelve under 201 after Greyserman’s even-par 71 and Schauffele’s matching four-under 67. This puts Lee firmly in the hunt, making the final round highly anticipated.

Lee’s remarkable play capped off an exciting day for the Lee family. Earlier, his sister Minjee Lee shot a phenomenal seven-under 65 in Shanghai, placing her just two shots behind the leader in the LPGA Tour’s Asian swing.

Conditions were challenging at the Yokohama Country Club, with rain impacting play. Greyserman, who had led the tournament since the first round, expressed his determination to hold onto his position despite the tough conditions. “It’s a new day tomorrow,” he stated, indicating a readiness to fight for victory.

Schauffele, a two-time major champion and Olympic gold medalist, is also aiming for significant personal stakes in this tournament. With family ties to Japan, he remarked, “(Winning) would be special obviously, my grandparents here, my mum growing up here with her brother as well,” highlighting the emotional weight this tournament carries for him.

Five players are closely trailing Lee, just three strokes behind, including defending champion Nico Echavarria and Si Woo Kim, both positioned to capitalize on any mistakes from the leaders.

The stakes are high as the final round of the Baycurrent Classic kicks off. Fans and players alike are eager to see who will emerge victorious. The action unfolds Sunday, making this a must-watch for golf enthusiasts around the world.
