Heartfelt Letter from Pheobe Bishop’s Mum to Missing Gus’ Family

UPDATE: The mother of allegedly murdered teen Pheobe Bishop has reached out with a poignant letter to the family of Gus, a four-year-old who has been missing from his family’s sheep farm in South Australia for over two weeks. Last seen playing near his homestead on September 27, Gus’s disappearance has mobilized extensive search efforts involving the South Australia Police, SES volunteers, and even the Australian Defence Force.

Kylie Johnson, Pheobe’s mother, shared her heartfelt message on social media, offering crucial support to Gus’s family during their harrowing search. “Stay off social media and the news,” she advised, emphasizing the need to protect mental health during such a trying time. She stressed the importance of keeping hope alive and staying focused on finding Gus.

The search for Gus, now entering its 19th day, has faced challenges, including extreme heat reaching 27°C. Police efforts were temporarily halted due to conditions, but will resume on October 17. In a statement, South Australia Police Commissioner Grant Stevens confirmed that there is currently no evidence of foul play, stating, “We’re obligated to consider every possibility.”

Pheobe Bishop, who went missing in May while traveling to meet her boyfriend, was found deceased over twenty days later, leading to the arrest of two individuals for her alleged murder. This tragic history adds weight to Johnson’s words as she encourages Gus’s family to navigate the intense scrutiny they will face from the public. “Let them judge,” she wrote, “you don’t have to talk to everyone.”

Kylie Johnson’s letter is a stark reminder of the emotional toll such searches take on families. She noted that “our porch light will be on for Gus and every other missing person for as long as we live,” expressing solidarity with those enduring similar heartaches.

As search efforts continue, the community is urged to remain vigilant. Johnson called for locals to “get loud” in their efforts to help find Gus, emphasizing that every detail could make a difference. Authorities are meticulously searching the areas surrounding the homestead, hoping for a break in the case.

The situation remains urgent, and the emotional stakes are high for both families involved. As the community rallies together, the hope is that their combined efforts will bring Gus home safely.

Stay tuned for more updates as this developing story unfolds.
