Allora Bridal Extravaganza Celebrates 140 Years of Fashion!

URGENT UPDATE: On October 11, 2025, the Allora Community Hall transformed into a vibrant showcase of bridal history during the highly anticipated Bridal Extravaganza and High Tea. Hosted by the Allora & District Historical Society (ADHS) with support from the Qld Government and COTA, this event highlighted over a century of bridal fashions, captivating attendees with stunning gowns dating back to 1882.

The event was a spectacular success, featuring models from the community who wore dresses representing various eras, including the glamorous roaring 20s, the vibrant 60s, and the bold 90s. Young women proudly donned these historical pieces, including Amanda Bowe in a beautiful 1940 wedding dress and Kinley Crothers in an elegant 1988 gown.

Wendy Free, ADHS Secretary, expressed her joy at the event, stating, “Seeing the event unfold was like a dream come true!” The hard work and dedication from a tireless team of volunteers made this event possible, showcasing the community’s passion for preserving its history.

The Bridal Extravaganza was not only a feast for the eyes but also served a greater purpose. It raised vital funds for the ADHS’s Relocation Project, which aims to enhance the main museums in Allora by relocating the little Drayton Street museums to Warwick Street. This project will further enrich the historical precinct, allowing for greater storytelling and showcasing of the incredible heritage of Allora and its people.

As the community celebrates this successful event, the ADHS encourages everyone to reflect on the rich history encapsulated in each gown, making it a day to remember for all who attended. The excitement doesn’t stop here; keep an eye on upcoming events as the society continues to engage and inspire the community.

Check out all the stunning photos from the event in the Allora Advertiser issue released on October 22, 2025. This event not only highlighted the beauty of bridal fashion but also reinforced the importance of community and heritage in Allora.

Stay tuned for more updates on the ADHS’s future projects and events, as they continue to bring history to life!
