URGENT UPDATE: The Kyneton Community House is urgently seeking volunteers to rejuvenate its struggling community garden. With spring just around the corner, garden coordinator Jo McErvale emphasizes the need for green thumbs ready to get their hands dirty and help transform the space.
The community garden has faced challenges, with a significant area laid waste and in desperate need of revitalization. McErvale stated, “There’s this whole area that’s sort of laid waste and needs to be rejuvenated, so we’ve got a big job ahead of us.” The initiative has already seen progress, as volunteers have been actively weeding, planting, mulching, and composting throughout the winter months. “That’s starting to come alive,” she added.
As the weather warms up, the demand for additional volunteers increases. Currently, there is a small team dedicated to maintaining the garden, but McErvale insists, “It’s a massive job to keep this garden going … it’s nice if we can get some extra hands to get the place in shape.” The success of the garden largely relies on the efforts of volunteers.
The Kyneton Community House is looking for help specifically on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 am to 3 pm. However, McErvale assures potential volunteers that the times can be flexible to accommodate different schedules. If you’re interested in lending a hand, contact the Kyneton Community House at 5422 3433 to fill out a volunteer pack and join the effort to revitalize this vital community resource.
Your participation could make a significant impact as the garden prepares for a vibrant spring season. Don’t miss this opportunity to get involved and contribute to your local community!
