Urgent Update: Teen Girl Pleads Guilty After Fatal Stabbing of Mum

UPDATE: A teenage girl has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the fatal stabbing of Kristie McBride during a street brawl in South Sydney. The shocking incident, which unfolded on November 22, 2023, has drawn national attention as details of the planned confrontation emerge.

Witnesses report that the fight was organized through an Instagram group chat named ‘The Big Yappers’ just hours before violence erupted. The court documents reveal that a 15-year-old girl, now identified as TH, fatally stabbed McBride multiple times. Three other teenage girls, KT, LT, and DR, have also pleaded guilty to manslaughter for their roles in the deadly altercation.

The fight was reportedly fueled by prior tensions, with KT instructing a member of the opposing group to bring her sisters for a showdown because they had “talked s–t” about her. Text messages exchanged included threats, with one teen declaring, “You gon bring girls … c–t I’ll knock yous all.”

On the day of the brawl, tensions escalated. TH, KT, LT, and DR acquired three knives from a local store before heading to the fight. The confrontation began around 6 PM as McBride and her sister, Carly, consumed alcohol nearby. The violence erupted when TH approached Kristie, wielding a knife. During the struggle, TH stabbed McBride in the abdomen, causing fatal injuries.

As the chaos unfolded, a bystander recorded the scene, capturing TH’s chilling reaction: “They came with knives, you f–king p—y c–ts… yeah run c–ts.” Tragically, Kristie McBride was left bleeding and in severe distress, later stating, “that little c–t stabbed me” before collapsing.

Authorities confirmed that McBride was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery and was placed in an induced coma. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries on the evening of December 1, 2023. A post-mortem examination revealed that the stab wounds led to liver and kidney failure, ultimately resulting in her brain death.

The court documents indicate that while TH believed she was defending herself, her response was deemed unreasonable given the circumstances. Meanwhile, KT, LT, and DR were found complicit in the manslaughter as they actively participated in the criminal endeavor, armed with knives and aware of the potential for serious harm.

The case is expected to return to the NSW Supreme Court on December 15, 2023, where video evidence of the brawl will likely be presented during sentencing.

As the community grapples with the tragic outcome of this brutal altercation, the story serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by social media-driven confrontations. The loss of Kristie McBride has left a profound impact, raising urgent questions about youth violence and accountability.
