Police Officers Assaulted as 400 Party Crashers Invade Byford

URGENT UPDATE: Two police officers were assaulted during a chaotic Halloween party in Byford late Friday night, as approximately 400 gatecrashers flooded a private property on Linton Street North. Authorities confirm they received multiple calls about the disturbance just after 9:30 PM, prompting a swift police response.

The situation escalated rapidly, with many attendees reportedly intoxicated. Despite police efforts to shut down the party and disperse the crowd, two officers found themselves under attack. One officer was punched in the face, while the other was kicked in the knee, according to WA Police reports.

In the aftermath, a 16-year-old girl from Glen Iris was arrested and charged with two counts of assaulting a public officer, two counts of obstructing public officers, and one count of disorderly behavior in public. She is scheduled to appear today in Perth Children’s Court.

Additionally, a 21-year-old man from Thornlie was taken into custody for one count of disorderly behavior, one count of obstructing public officers, and possession of a prohibited drug. He will face charges today at Perth Magistrates Court.

A 17-year-old man was also issued a Move On Order as police worked to restore order at the scene. The alarming incident highlights the challenges law enforcement faces during large gatherings, especially when alcohol is involved.

As the situation develops, authorities urge the community to report any disturbances immediately and emphasize the importance of safety during public events. Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds.
