John Lewis Unveils Upbeat 2025 Christmas Ad with Iconic Soundtrack

The 2025 Christmas advert from John Lewis features a vibrant rendition of the classic ’90s club anthem “Where Love Lives,” originally performed by Alison Limerick. The commercial showcases both the original track and a contemporary version by Labrinth, signaling the festive season’s arrival with an upbeat and heartwarming message.

This year’s advert, created by marketing agency Saatchi and Saatchi, marks a distinct shift from the previous year’s melancholic tone, which was underscored by Richard Ashcroft‘s cover of his former band The Verve‘s hit “Sonnet.” The new campaign features a touching storyline focusing on the relationship between a father and son, united by music.

In the commercial, the son gifts his father a vinyl recording of “Where Love Lives,” a gesture that encapsulates the emotional connection fostered through music. The narrative emphasizes the sentiment: “If you can’t find the words, find the gift.” The advert aims to highlight the challenge many face in expressing their feelings, particularly during the holiday season.

The accompanying synopsis elaborates on this theme: “We don’t always know how to say how we feel. Not out loud. Not properly. But then comes Christmas and something in us wants to try. This is the story of a dad and his son, and the gift that helps them find their way back to one another. Because, sometimes, a gift can say the things we can’t.”

As part of the campaign, John Lewis has launched a limited-edition black 12-inch vinyl featuring both Limerick’s and Labrinth’s versions of the song. All profits from the sales will contribute to the Building Happier Futures fund, furthering the company’s commitment to social responsibility.

Over the years, John Lewis has become synonymous with its annual Christmas advert, often featuring prominent musical acts. Previous years have seen contributions from celebrated artists, including Sir Elton John with “Your Song,” Elbow with “Golden Slumbers,” Tom Odell with “Real Love,” and Lily Allen with “Somewhere Only We Know.”

With its blend of nostalgia and modern interpretation, the 2025 John Lewis Christmas advert is poised to resonate with audiences, evoking both joy and reflection during the holiday season.
