Urgent Investigation Launched After Early Morning Lalor Shop Fire

URGENT UPDATE: Authorities are investigating a suspicious fire that erupted at a shop on May Street in Lalor early this morning, November 5, 2023. Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to the emergency call at 6:03 AM, discovering flames consuming the rear of the premises.

The fire rapidly spread through approximately half of the shop before FRV crews successfully brought the blaze under control by 7:12 AM. Despite their efforts to contain the fire, surrounding buildings were impacted by smoke, raising concerns among local residents and officials.

This incident marks the second suspicious fire in just two days in the north-west area, following a similar report from Craigieburn on November 4, 2023. The recurrence of such events has heightened the urgency of the investigation, prompting Whittlesea Council building surveyors and health department representatives to inspect the affected premises later today.

Local residents are anxious as details unfold. “We’re all on edge,” said a nearby shop owner. “This is not the first time something like this has happened in our community.”

As authorities delve deeper into the investigation, they are urging anyone with information to come forward. The community is advised to stay alert and report any suspicious activities as the investigation proceeds.

Stay tuned for more updates as this developing story unfolds.
