In a dramatic turn of events, police extradited the alleged ringleader, a 55-year-old man from the Northern Territory, overnight on November 7, 2024. He had been arrested on November 4 in a collaborative effort with the Northern Territory Police Force and has now been charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of MDMA and conspiracy to traffic a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine.
Authorities allege the ringleader went into hiding in August after learning of the investigation. They tracked him down under a false identity in the Northern Territory. The syndicate he allegedly directed is accused of importing precursor chemicals and manufacturing, trafficking, and distributing significant amounts of illicit drugs across Australia.
