Two years after the passing of her boyfriend, Johnny Ruffo, Tahnee Sims has shared a heartfelt tribute to honor his memory. Ruffo, a talented singer and actor from Perth, died on November 10, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 35. Sims took to social media to reflect on their eight-year relationship, expressing her enduring love and grief for the man she described as her “guardian angel.”
In her emotional post, Sims wrote, “Two years with the best guardian angel. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. Living life for you, always.” The post included a poignant black-and-white video montage showcasing moments from their time together, which featured joyful memories alongside clips from Ruffo’s hospital treatment. The montage was set to a cover of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” performed by Sonny Tennet.
Sims’ tribute resonated with many fans, who offered their condolences and support as she continues to navigate her loss. One follower commented, “What a beautiful relationship you had gorgeous girl. Keep shining. He would be so proud of you.” Another shared their empathy, noting, “Beautiful memories, Johnny was such a strong fighter.”
The couple met in a dance studio in 2015, and Sims remained a steadfast presence throughout Ruffo’s illness. He was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017, and faced a relapse in 2020. Their bond was evident as Sims reflected on their shared experiences, acknowledging the weight of her grief while also celebrating the love they shared.
On the first anniversary of Ruffo’s death in 2024, Sims expressed her ongoing sorrow, stating, “One year on without you… It feels like just yesterday & a lifetime ago all at once.” She emphasized the importance of their time together, saying, “Grief is incredibly heavy but it’s the price we pay for love & I’m so grateful for all of the years we got to share together.”
In a touching tribute, Lynne McGranger, Ruffo’s co-star from the television series Home and Away, remembered him on what would have been his birthday, March 8. She remarked on social media, “Happy heavenly birthday my friend. Hope you’re smiling down on us and kicking up a storm with the angels. Love and miss you lots, Johnny.”
Sims continues to honor Ruffo’s legacy through her poignant reflections, capturing the essence of their relationship and the profound impact he had on her life. As she navigates her grief, she remains grateful for the love and adventures they shared, demonstrating the strength of their bond even in his absence.
