Detectives from the Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit have charged three teenagers in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Pakenham on November 3, 2023. The incident unfolded shortly after 9:00 a.m. when a grey Range Rover Evoque, believed to be stolen, approached a man and a boy walking on Slattery Place.
Two boys and a girl exited the vehicle, with one male demanding belongings from the pair. When a 19-year-old man from Lang Lang refused to comply, he was allegedly assaulted and slashed with a knife. The second victim, a 16-year-old boy from Lang Lang, intervened by pushing the attacker away, allowing both victims to escape toward a nearby railway station. During the altercation, the female suspect allegedly took one of the victim’s bags before the trio fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
The 19-year-old victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment. The 16-year-old boy reported no physical injuries.
Shortly after the robbery, the stolen Range Rover was involved in a petrol theft at a service station on Thompson Road, Cranbourne North, approximately 15 minutes later. Investigators later determined that the vehicle had been stolen from a property in Elwood earlier that same morning at around 4:40 a.m.
Subsequent police efforts led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy from the Frankston area later that day. He faces multiple charges, including robbery and theft of a motor vehicle, and has been released on bail to appear before a children’s court at a later date.
On November 6, a 14-year-old boy from Kingston was apprehended. He faces serious charges, including armed robbery and intentionally causing serious injury, and remains in custody pending a children’s court appearance later this month.
Finally, on November 11, a 16-year-old girl from the Greater Geelong area was arrested. She has been charged with robbery, theft, and other related offences, and is currently on bail awaiting a hearing in children’s court.
The investigation into this incident highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to address youth crime and ensure community safety.
