Sissy Spacek Takes Time Off Acting to Focus on Family and Self

Sissy Spacek, the acclaimed actress known for her role in *Carrie*, is currently taking a break from acting to spend what she describes as “precious time” at home. At 75 years old, Spacek recently starred in the film *Die, My Love*, which features Jennifer Lawrence, and made an appearance in the TV series *Dying for Sex*, created by Michelle Williams. Despite her recent projects, Spacek has no upcoming roles lined up, opting instead to focus on personal growth and family life.

In an interview with *Interview magazine*, Spacek shared her thoughts on this transitional phase of her life. She stated, “I’ve been doing a lot of hard thinking… I’m at a time in my life where I’m trying to figure out who I am at this age. A happy grandmother.” This self-reflection has led her to spend more time in her garden and even enjoy a week-long stay at a meditation retreat.

Spacek explained, “My gardener quit in the height of the heat dome this summer, so I had to rescue my garden. That was a very grounding thing.” The actress emphasized the importance of this period, noting that she is relishing the time spent with her husband, production designer and director Jack Fisk. “We’re all home right now, so it’s a real precious time. And we’re getting older, my husband and I. We’re elderly for god’s sake,” she remarked.

Reflecting on her successful career, which includes winning an Academy Award and three Golden Globes, Spacek acknowledged the role of luck in her achievements. She stated, “I know really great artists. And so much of my success has been because I’ve been at the right place at the right time.”

Throughout her career, Spacek has appeared in numerous acclaimed films, including Terrence Malick‘s *Badlands* and Oliver Stone‘s *JFK*. Despite her accolades, she remains humble about her talent, suggesting that many other actresses are more deserving of recognition. “There are people who are far more talented than me… so many great artists out there who don’t ever get the break,” she added.

As Sissy Spacek embraces this new chapter, she is focused on self-discovery and family, illustrating the importance of balancing personal fulfillment with professional commitments.
