Toddler Rescued After Car Theft in Shepparton Supermarket

URGENT UPDATE: A toddler is safe after a shocking car theft incident at a supermarket in Shepparton on November 14. Around 2 PM, a woman parked her red Volkswagen with her sleeping child inside, only to return and find both missing.

Authorities report that an unknown man seized the opportunity and stole the vehicle, unaware the toddler was still on board. CCTV footage captured the alarming moment when the alleged thief discovered the child after reversing out of the parking lot. The footage shows him placing the baby in a cardboard box between parked cars before driving away.

The mother, returning from shopping, found her toddler before immediately contacting authorities. Thankfully, the child was unharmed, but the incident has raised serious concerns about safety in public spaces.

The stolen Volkswagen was located the next day in the Mooroopna area. Police are actively searching for the suspect, described as a male in his 20s to 30s, slim build, approximately 165 centimeters tall. He was seen wearing a black cap backwards, navy headphones, a blue Golden State basketball singlet, black shorts, light blue runners, and black sweatbands on both wrists.

This unsettling incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers in everyday settings. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

Stay tuned for more updates as the investigation unfolds.
